What We Collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. When you connect Google Calendar, we read, create, update, and delete events on your calendars so your shifts stay in sync with Hussle. We do not access any other Google services.
If you choose to use the optional shift-scanning feature, you may upload an image (such as a screenshot of an email, text message, staffing-app screen, or photo of a printed schedule). The image is processed by a third-party AI provider as described in the "AI Processing of Your Content" section below.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide the Hussle service — displaying your shifts, calculating earnings, tracking goals, and generating reports. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security policies ensuring only you can access your own data. All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
Service Providers We Use
We share limited data with the following providers solely to operate Hussle, each contractually bound to use it only to provide its service to us:
- Supabase — stores your account and app data (hosted on AWS).
- Anthropic — AI parsing of schedule images, receipt photos, and typed shift text.
- Google Gemini — AI parsing of schedule images.
- Resend — sends the optional weekly summary email (receives your email address and summary figures).
- Sentry — error diagnostics (receives crash/error data, which may include device details and limited account identifiers such as your user ID).
- Vercel — hosts gethussle.app and processes connection metadata such as your IP address.
AI Processing of Your Content
Hussle offers three optional AI-assisted features. Each runs only when you explicitly trigger it; the app works fully without them.
- Schedule scanning. When you scan an image of a work schedule (a screenshot of an email, text message, or staffing-app screen, or a photo of a printed schedule), the image is sent over an encrypted connection to a Hussle backend function and forwarded to Google Gemini (models
gemini-2.0-flashandgemini-2.5-flash) or, if Gemini is unavailable, Anthropic Claude (claude-opus-4-8), which extract the shift details. - Receipt scanning. When you scan a receipt photo to log an expense, the photo is sent to Anthropic Claude (
claude-haiku) to read the total amount, category, date, and merchant. - Typed shift parsing. When you type a shift in plain language (for example "maxwell 6-2 fri $125"), that text — together with the list of your work categories so the AI can match the right employer — is sent to Anthropic Claude (
claude-haiku) to produce a structured shift.
In every case the AI returns structured fields (such as date, time, location, pay rate, amount, or category) that are shown to you for review and confirmation before anything is saved to your account.
Hussle does not store the uploaded image on our servers — it exists only in memory for the duration of the request and is discarded immediately afterward. We rely on each AI provider's commercial API terms for their data-handling commitments:
- Anthropic Claude — under the Anthropic Commercial Terms of Service, Anthropic does not train its models on customer inputs or outputs.
- Google Gemini — Hussle's schedule-scanning requests use Google's Gemini API as a paid service. Under the Gemini API Additional Terms for paid services, Google does not use content you submit to improve its products, and it is not reviewed by human annotators. If you would rather not send schedule images to an AI provider at all, you can skip the scan feature and enter shifts manually.
Use of this feature is entirely optional. Hussle works fully without it; the image upload is only triggered when you explicitly choose to scan a schedule.
Google Calendar Access
Hussle requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events scope to view and edit events on your Google Calendars, and the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.calendarlist.readonly scope to see the list of calendars on your account (so shifts on shared or hidden work calendars can be found). Specifically, Hussle uses this access to:
- List the calendars on your account to identify which ones to read shifts from. Hussle never modifies your calendar list.
- Read events on your calendars so shifts published by your employers appear automatically in Hussle alongside pay, tips, and payment status.
- Create events on your primary calendar when you add a shift inside Hussle.
- Update events when you edit shift details in Hussle (reschedule, change times, etc.).
- Delete events when you delete a shift in Hussle.
Hussle does not access calendar settings, sharing permissions (ACLs), calendar metadata beyond what is required to identify which calendars to read from, or any other Google service. You can revoke this access at any time from within Hussle (Settings → Disconnect Google Calendar) or from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Google API Services Limited Use Disclosure
Hussle's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Hussle:
- Only uses access to Google Calendar data to provide the user-facing shift-tracking features described above.
- Does not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service (secure storage in Supabase; AI-based image analysis via Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude when the user chooses to scan a schedule image, as described in the "AI Processing of Your Content" section above), for security investigations, or when required by law.
- Does not use Google user data for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising.
- Does not allow humans to read Google user data except with your explicit consent for a specific purpose (e.g., responding to a support request you initiate), for security investigations, or when required by law.
Analytics
We collect usage analytics tied to your account (which features are used, page views) to improve the app. These analytics are stored in our own database and are not shared with third-party analytics services.
Error Diagnostics
When the app encounters an error, we send diagnostic data (the error message, app state at the time, browser/device type, page URL, and limited account identifiers such as your user ID) to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, solely to diagnose and fix bugs. We configure Sentry to minimize personal data and do not use this data for advertising.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, delete your data, export a portable copy, and restrict or object to certain processing — and, in California, to limit the use of sensitive personal information. You can export all of your data anytime via Settings → Export Data and permanently delete it via Settings → Delete Account. For any other request, email us at info@gethussle.app. We will respond within 30 days (45 days for California requests) and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
California Privacy Rights
In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, Google profile); commercial and financial information you enter (shifts, pay rates, earnings, expenses, receipt photos); calendar event content; images and text you submit for AI parsing; and internet or usage activity (feature analytics and error logs). The sources are you, your Google account, and your device, and we use this information to provide and improve the Service, for security, and for support. We share these categories only with the service providers listed above. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your information, to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising any right.
European, UK & Swiss Privacy Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (and its UK and Swiss equivalents) applies to your personal data. The controller of that data is the operator of Hussle, reachable at info@gethussle.app. We process your data on these legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide the core Service: storing and displaying your shifts, earnings, goals, and reports.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for optional features you turn on, including AI scanning of images and text, Google Calendar sync, and the weekly summary email. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors, balanced against your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw any consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (Settings → Export Data and Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing us; we will respond within one month.
International Data Transfers
Hussle is operated from the United States, and the service providers listed above process data in the United States and other countries. If you access Hussle from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards — including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum) and, where applicable, our providers' certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. By using the Service you understand that your data will be processed in the United States.
Data Deletion
You can delete your Hussle account and all associated data at any time through Settings → Delete Account. This action permanently removes your user profile, all shifts, tasks, categories, goals, expenses, clients, templates, and any other data tied to your account from our servers. The action cannot be undone.
You can also disconnect Google Calendar without deleting your Hussle account through Settings → Disconnect Google Calendar, or via your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is removed from our production database immediately. Backups containing your data are rotated out within 30 days.
Data Breach Notification
If we become aware of a security breach that compromises your personal data, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay and, where feasible, within 72 hours of becoming aware, and we will inform affected users without undue delay where the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights, consistent with applicable law.
Children's Privacy
Hussle is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 (or the minimum age required for consent in your country), and under 13 in the United States. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
